Sofía is the story of a battle, that of a young princess and her fiancé, who, determined to get married, must face up to their families, the Spanish dictator General Franco and a political class and a religion that also frowned upon their union.
After the wedding, the life of the future king and queen of Spain was also difficult. They were always forced to uphold a taut balance between Don Juan, the legal heir to the throne who would never reign, and Franco, the dictator. And they were always competing with the dictator’s granddaughter and Juan Carlos’ cousin, Alfonso of Borbón for the crown of Spain.
