Charles is the crown prince of a royal central European family who decides to visit the Costa Brava for a few weeks in an attempt to get away from his family, fiancée, and royal obligations. Maria is a young unmarried mother who is studying to become a vet and works with her father in his veterinary clinic. One morning, Charles and Maria meet by chance. They both hide their true identities and create imaginary lives. They start to date. Soon their summer romance turns into a passionate love story. But it isn't long before their double identities are revealed: Charles discovers that Maria has a daughter when some indiscreet photos of Maria and himself make headlines in a sensationalist magazine: "The Crown Prince's Secret Summer Romance". In spite of it all, the two of them are deeply in love, and Charles asks Maria to return home with him and wed.
Will Maria decide to become queen? Or will Charles abandon his future crown in exchange for Maria's love?
