Two young illegal immigrants, Yao and Rachid, move to Valencia, Spain. Living separate lives, they meet Maria Luisa, an elegant older widow, and her son Róber, who falls in love with Rachid. Eventually living in the same building, Maria Luisa and Yao become lovers.

To legalize his residence, Rachid decides to marry a former lover in Barcelona. Yao, unable to forget his African girlfriend, feels the limits of his affair with Maria Luisa and also leaves. Mother and son again find themselves alone, united in their abandonment.
