Martin and Miguel, two men of around 35, coincide on a tuna fishing boat on a voyage to Ireland. Despite his youth, Martín is an expert fisherman. He’s been working on the boat, the Mater Bi, for many years, and barely steps ashore between tides. Miguel is a marine biologist who has never been to sea. His objective on his first voyage is to gather samples and, when he reaches port, to meet up with Mar, with whom he had a relationship which is still open. Mar is in the final weeks of pregnancy. She lives and works in Bantry, and waits for Miguel, immersed in the doubts which have marked her whole life.
Over the course of the journey, and while the Mater Bi sails in search of the perfect shoal, a dialogue grows up between the two protagonists which leads them to exchange the stories which have marked their lives and led them to where they are now.
North is a geographic journey, but also a journey to the interior if the characters, a journey in search of answers, a journey to the past, to the unknown... A journey to the legendary Gran Sol.
