''My name is Norró and I'm a 12-year-old Dassanetch girl. Not long ago a circumcision was performed on me and my sister, Nohode, too. It is an ancient custom in my land. If we didn't do it, no-one would respect us. We wouldn't be able to marry, or have children. We would be left all alone, rejected by everyone.''
This documentary tells the story of Norró and Nohode, two Dassanetch sisters who were subjected to female circumcision. We share the days leading up to the celebration of this ritual with the girls and their family, whose words and gestures provide a valuable insight into their thoughts on this practice which is so deeply rooted in their culture.
