Synopsis
Carmen Polo de Franco is one of the most well-known figures in Spain’s recent history yet one of the most enigmatic. Surrounded by clichés and hearsay, she has been portrayed as a devout, materialistic, ambitious, vindictive, cold and heartless woman. This documentary seeks to reveal the real Doña Carmen, eschewing mere rumours and rehashes of what has already been said, and aiming to get to the heart of the person with all her contradictions, virtues and woes, to offer a coherent, faithfully documented portrayal of a human being, a wife, a mother and grandmother, and the First Lady of a dark country during a grey period.
